Jojo Siwa is creating Dancing with the Stars history as the first person from the LGBTQ+ community to dance with a homosexual partner on the ABC show’s competition.
The professional female dancer JoJo has teamed up with is Jenna Johnson, and the two were awarded the highest score of the season, a score of 40/40 for their foxtrot performance on Grease night.
“When I got the email with Dancing with the Stars in the subject, I didn’t even read the email,” JoJo explained. “I responded, ‘Yes. I didn’t even look at dates. I didn’t even look at the time. I didn’t think about anything. I knew that I had to get it done.”
When Jojo finished studying the entire letter, that included the question: “Would JoJo like to be partnered with a girl or with a boy?” Jojo replied without hesitation.
“Immediately, I was like, ‘It would be so incredible and mean so much to me, and I think to mean so much to many people around the world if I partnered with another female,'” she added. “I want to make it OK for the people who come after me.”
